Some news from us. We have made the decision to shut down our e-commerce operation. With that, we're marking down all of the shoes that we have. So if you've been wanting a pair of our shoes, or if you'd like to grab one last pair, now is your time.

This decision definitely did not come easily, but it is the right one for where we are right now. Our small team has worked hard for the last 16 years to make the best shoes that we could, and to treat the people who wore them, and the people who made them, with kindness and respect. 

Making shoes by hand was never an easy task, and it has only gotten harder over time. That said, it was worth it for the quality of the shoes we made and the incredible artistry of the people who made them. We said from the beginning that if we're going to put something out into the world, it was going to be something we could be proud of. Mission accomplished.

Now we're ready for new challenges. It's a big world out there, and there's a lot that we want to do. It's been a pleasure working on Fortress for the last 16 years, and honestly, it's a minor miracle that this little handmade shoe company has come so far from our humble beginnings.

Y'all were an integral part of it all. We had a chance to meet so many of you over the years - in our store(s) in Austin, at events around town, at trade shows, and at boutiques all over the country. Your enthusiasm and support kept us going through good times and bad.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 

What now? We plan to continue working with a handful of retailers around the country, but we're still hashing out those plans. Until then, grab one (or two or three) last pairs from our website. Our closing sale is live now.

A few notes about our final stretch:

-All shoes are now final sale
-If you recently bought a pair of shoes and are still within the 14-day return window, you are still able to return your shoes
-Any rewards points you have must be used by October 26, 2026
-Gift cards and coupons will continue to work until our inventory is gone
-Our sister brand, Huma Blanco, will remain in operation, and you can shop those styles at humablanco.com
